How To Add A Receptacle To A Light Switch I Need To Repair A 14-2 Run Of Romex Coming From A Lighting Circuit. Can I Use 12-2 For The Repair Run?

I need to repair a 14-2 run of romex coming from a lighting circuit. Can I use 12-2 for the repair run? - how to add a receptacle to a light switch

12.2 I transfer. 14.2 The actual damage, replace the son of a light switch. Then, another pigtail cable that goes to 14.2 lighting and other dishes on a 15 A circuit breakers. Someone told me that according to the code that you added 12-2 14-2, while the circuit breaker 15 A, thus protecting the wire heats 14-2. Thank you for your comments.

  1. You are correct. You can replace a smaller (14) for wire with a larger (12) of the thread. No problem. It is also true that you protect the lead with 14 amp circuit breaker 15.
